Congratulations to Yenaminut Apacas on their purchase of Assassin, who has the sought after genetics of Canchones Vertigo. His Dam Hidden Lake Bolero ET also has excellent genetics, adding the genetic layers of Canchones Impressario and Jolimont Claudia 2, both outstanding Peruvian imports.
With the demise of Vertigo, which we co-owned with Canchones, we are fortunate to have several male offspring to carry on this line, so are able to release Assassin.
We wish Taryan, Erika and Con Kotsiakos every success in using Assassin to advance their Suri breeding program.
Canchones Palais ET - already in our herd
Hidden Lake Alpacas have purchased Canchones Prada.
Prada is an elite female with 34 cria from successful ET programs. Hidden Lake has one of these already in our herd - Canchones Palais ET, who we showed briefly before commencing a mating program which has aready produced an excellent male and we are currently expecting her 2nd cria.
Prada adds to the depth of quality suri genetics in our herd and we plan to continue ET programs with her.
Our black suri herd has many elite black females, many acquired from Canchones with others bred from these foundation animals.
Hidden Lake Moonshadow
Hidden Lake Moonshadow - progeny of Wyterrica Propaganda and one of our foundation dams Pitchingga Ridge Liberty.
A grey male with excellent coverage, tight crimp and lustrous fleece.
Moonshadow is for sale as part of the final stages of our complete Huacaya herd dispersal.
We have purchased this elite Medium/Dark Fawn Suri female to join our black Suri breeding program.
Surilana Maddomar has been shown twice with outstanding results -
Surilana Maddomar joins Hidden Lake Harlow - our 2 Medium/Dark Fawn Suri females that we will mate with black males to advance our black Suri genetics.

1, 2 and 3 in Junior Black Suri Male class
AlpacaFest is a great show - a good venue and it attracts over 300 entries.
We entered 6 alpacas, winning 6 ribbons, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the one class with our 3 Junior Black Suri Males. Two of these are progeny of Canchones Vertigo (our co-owned male who died recently) and one from Canchones Impressario. These potential stud sires add to our existing black Suri stud sires - Hidden Lake Sabre (progeny of Canchones Vertigo) and Hidden Lake Merlin ET (progeny of Canchones Maserati). This will greatly add to our depth in elite black suri genetics from these 3 distict lines.

Canchones Vertigo
Vertigo is co-owned by Hidden Lake and Canchones. He is an outstanding Black Suri stud sire, with numerous wins at major shows.
He has played a significant role in the development of our black suri herd and unfortunately Vertigo has been euthanised due to an on-going illness.
We have now replaced Vertigo in our breeding program with one of his progeny, Hidden Lake Sabre, who has also had a very successful show career including consecutive firsts at the Royal Melbourne Show. Sabre's first progeny will be on the ground at the end of 2011.
We also have four more excellent male cria from Vertigo, to add to our breeding depth from this line in the years ahead.
Adreneline, Advocate and Assassin vie for supremacy
Our suri cria from Canchones Vertigo in the current drop, consist of 4 excellent black males and one fantastic mid-fawn female with black points.

This was a long event this year - spanning 4 days. This was largely to accommodate public viewing of alpacas and the event.
Hidden Lake had a very successful show winning 8 ribbons with 10 animals shown - plus a broad ribbon for Best Black Suri Female.

Hidden Lake Sabre
Colourbration had 550 entries this year, resulting in large and competitive fields in most classes.

Cold and muddy, but a great venue and show. The black classes were well represented and very competitive.
The show results for our team at AlpacaFest 2010 -
We had a very successful opening to the 2010 show season with 5 class ribbons for the 5 animals shown plus Best Black Huacaya -

We were unable to show 2 Suri Males as their fleece length did not meet the minimum 75mm length rules for this show - they were shorn late November - but I am sure they enjoyed the trip!
Hidden Lake had a very successful show with our two first place winners at the Royal Melbourne Show 2 weeks earlier also winning their class at the 2009 National Show.
Whilst Blue and Red ribbons were not awarded in several colour classes at this show, which was disappointing for many colour breeders as this show attracts the best coloured alpacas in Australia, the relative placings are the important measure.
Hidden Lake Bolero
Hidden Lake Alpacas is very pleased with the results from our show team at this high profile and competitive event. Our black Suri team of four won four ribbons.
